My First iMovie Trailer: Finding Your Major
|
This weekend I decided to try out a movie making app called iMovie. This app is a great way to create short videos for your classroom. I did a video with my friend Grace Lady, over the journey students take when finding their major. Some students might feel lost, others may know exactly what they want to do. In the end, it is your decision and you are going to find people (maybe even ones you didn't expect) to share that passion for your program with you. Check it out on this page!

Overall, working with iMovie was extremely easy. You can use a template which gives you guided directions on what angles to film and how long each clip should be. It also gives you short word pages to add to it. The only downside to using the templates is that some things are not customizable. This is where you may want to create your own movie! Students could use iMovie to do a biography project or to make a video on a hot topic issue. There are so many possibilities with this app.
When you are finished making your movie, you can save it to your photos and upload it to YouTube. Download the YouTube Capture app. This app has some neat editing features and is free to download. The main point of the app is to download your video to YouTube. It only took be about 2 minutes to download it! Overall, this was a great project for me as a teacher but also a project students could easily do. Some example ideas would be Black History Month, Bullying, Texting and Driving, and more! If you happen to use iMovie, be sure to show me your video on Twitter!
