Review: The Cool Cat Teacher Blog by Vicki Davis
When I first visited The Cool Cat Teachers Blog, I was very curious to see who would name their blog "Cool Cat Teacher". That's not a name you would expect. So naturally I headed over to the About Me page to meet Vicki Davis. Vicki refers to teaching as a "noble calling" and I would have to agree. This job is not easy, but when you see a child finally understand something, it makes it all worth it.
But after teaching for three years, Vicki realized that good teaching meant more than get a student to understand a subject. It is about forming a relationship with them. Vicki began to see that she needed to change her style as an educator. She wanted to find out how to reach the students who needed her most. Two of them were her sons who have learning "differences" as she calls them. She doesn't believe they are disabled; they just learn in a different way.

Soon she realized that she was not alone in her quest. She found many teachers shared her passion for wanting to be a better teacher. Now she, along with other guests on her podcasts, share way they become great teachers. What I really love about her podcasts is that there is always a guest there to talk and they are short, to-the-point podcasts that are very relatable. Recently, Vicki had J. Michael Hall M. Ed. on her podcast. Michael talked about how to foster a strong relationship with the parents/guardians of students. He gave three tips:
